The European Council has decided to limit arms sales into Turkey, as a response to the country’s military operations in Northern Syria. Spain, Austria, Belgium, Germany and France have already stopped all arms sales to Ankara.
It also approved approves sanctions against Turkey – but used the illegal gas drilling off the coast of Cyprus as reason, instead of the military operations in Syria. This way, not officially sanctioning Turkey on the offensive, in an attempt to keep “friendly” relations with President Erdgoan.
